U.S. gambling revenue rose 3% to $35.64B in 2011 - MarketWatch

CHICAGO (MarketWatch) -- Gambling revenue at U.S. commercial casinos rose 3% to $35.64 billion last year, according to data released Wednesday by the American Gaming Association. It is the second consecutive year-over-year rise. The trade group also said that the industry employs about 340,000 people and anted up $7.93 billion in taxes, a 4.5% increase. The report only covers commercial operations, not those run by Indian tribes.
